Winter at our cosy Norwegian home ❄️

When winter arrives, our home turns into a warm and welcoming hideaway — the perfect place to unwind after a day in the snow. Nestled among beautiful mountains and forests, it’s the ideal base to explore the magic of Norwegian winter life.

Snowshoe hiking
Step right outside and walk into a peaceful, white world. With snowshoes you can quietly wander through the surrounding fjells, listening only to the crunch of snow beneath your feet and the silence of nature all around you.

Ski touring
For the adventurous: go ski touring straight from the house into the mountains behind. Climb towards the ridges with wide views over frozen lakes and endless forests — and enjoy a thrilling descent surrounded by untouched nature.

Alpine skiing
Prefer the slopes? You’ll find Gautefall ski center just 20 minutes away — a friendly and relaxed area for families and beginners — and Vrådal Panorama within 40 minutes for those who want more runs and views.

Cross-country skiing
When there’s enough snow, you can start your cross-country trip right from the doorstep. Glide through gentle terrain or discover nearby prepared trails in Fjone, Gautefall, or Kyrkjebygdheia. There’s something for every level and mood.

And when you return home — light the wood stove, curl up with a book, or enjoy a hot drink while watching the snow fall outside. Our house is made for slow winter days and cosy evenings.

Spring & summer at our cosy Norwegian home

When snow melts and daylight stretches into long, golden evenings, our home in Telemark becomes an oasis of warmth, adventure, and slow moments. Between blossoming trees, clear lakes, and misty mountain mornings, spring and summer here are something special.

Swimming & Lake Life
Step out to Lake Nisser and feel the refreshment of clean, clear water. Swim straight from our shore, paddleboard (SUP) across gentle waves, or just soak up the sun on the deck. After a dip, nothing beats relaxing indoors with a warm towel, or enjoying our sauna.

Hiking
Trails begin right behind the house — from gentler routes for families to more challenging ones for mountain lovers. Explore places like Langfjell just a short walk away, or venture to hidden waterfalls, ridges, and the unspoiled peaks of Venelifjell. Spring brings wildflowers, summer the buzzing of insects and lush foliage.

Mountain Biking
The Nissedal region is one of Norway’s gems for mountain biking, with over 100 km of marked trails through forest, over hills, past lakes, and into the high country. Whether you want a mellow ride or something more demanding, you’ll find it.

Climbing, Water & Nature Spots
Adventure seekers will enjoy the climbing routes in the area — from Via Lara on Hægefjell to Via Ferreta in Gautefall and Fyresdal. Natural rock formations, dramatic vistas, and plenty of fresh air. The Jettegrytene (“Giant’s Kettles”) are especially magical — rocky potholes sculpted by nature, great for exploring and swimming.

Coastal Day Trips & Norwegian Riviera
If you want a change of scenery, you’re not far from the coast. Beautiful towns like Risør, Kragerø and Arendal beckon with charming streets, islands to explore, and excellent seafood. Combine a day by the seaside with a coastal ferry, island hopping or just enjoying a quiet cafe.

Fishing & Slow Moments
Bring a rod, or just enjoy the silence. There are fishing spots in the lake — catch perch, trout, whitefish and more. Morning mist, coffee on the terrace, birdsong, reading, board games… time slows down here, in the best way.

Amenities & Comfort
After long outdoor days, return home to comfort. Our design-retreat is built to blend nature with modern touches — large windows for light and views, terraces for meals or lounging, a fully equipped kitchen, comfy bedrooms, and cozy gathering spaces. The sauna is perfect for cooling off after sun or sweating from climbs.
